Isha Vidhya is a pioneering education initiative that seeks to transform the lives of India’s rural poor. It was established in 2006 towards building an India where high-quality school education is accessible and affordable to all, especially for rural underprivileged children. Isha Vidhya’s rural schools provide a scalable model for delivering quality education within the limitations of underdeveloped rural communities.
Isha Vidhya’s ten rural schools (9 in the districts of Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Tuticorin, Nagercoil, and Karur in Tamil Nadu and one in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh), serve 7738 rural children.
100 high school students from Isha Vidhya Schools participated in a 9-week Entrepreneurship & Leadership Development Program conducted by Moonshot Junior Inc. These students come from a rural background in India with limited resources. The limited resources (like lack of reliable internet and laptops etc.) did not stop them from pursuing their passion and taking their ideas to the finish line creating compelling business pitches. 18 mentors from the global Isha network worked with these teams alongside the Moonshot Junior mentors to coach these teams and get them to the finish line.
8 teams have made it to the finals and will be presenting their pitches to globally successful entrepreneurs and investors.
