The robotics industry, despite facing its challenges, received record investment in 2019; 320 investment and 77 acquisition deals involving robotics and robot-related companies were completed. The total yearly value of all private-sector deals was a staggering US$46 billion, according to ABI Research. The ABI Research revealed that of the $46 billion spent, a total of US$17.8 billion went to acquisitions and a further US$29 billion went into investments. The lion’s share of investment funding focused on autonomous passenger vehicles (APV’s), surgical robotics, and warehouse automation, comprising 82% of total investments.   The most vulnerable jobs are those in office administration, production, transportation, and food preparation. Such jobs are deemed “high risk,” with over 70 percent of their tasks potentially automatable, even though they represent only one-quarter of all jobs, according to a study by nonprofit public policy organization Brookings Institution. According to the Boston Consulting Group, more than $67 billion will be spent worldwide in the robotics sector by 2025, compared to only $11 billion in 2005.
